The Role of Hormones and Infertility
Hormones play a key role in fertility, but imbalances can impede pregnancy. Although IVF is often thought of as a solution, it is necessary to address hormone imbalances before the body is ready to conceive and sustain a pregnancy.
The reproductive process relies on several hormones, including Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH), estradiol, and progesterone.
FSH promotes the growth of ovarian follicles, LH triggers ovulation and egg release, and estradiol and progesterone regulate the menstrual cycle.
Other hormones that impact fertility include thyroid hormones, prolactin from the pituitary gland, stress hormones, and testosterone. Hormonal dysfunction can also arise from insulin resistance and glucose imbalances.
Dysfunction in the reproductive system and ovarian function can result from hormonal imbalances, making it challenging to conceive.
Our goal at Road to Fertility is to pinpoint and treat the underlying cause of your hormonal imbalance, creating a tailored fertility treatment plan to meet your body’s specific needs.
